Action Ukraine played a vital role in the successful implementation of “I Am the Community!” information campaign on decentralisation reform in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts on behalf of the United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine, with financial support from the European Union.
The goal was to raise awareness of the region’s residents regarding the positive changes and results of decentralisation reform, explain the essence of the reform, and encourage all stakeholders – local authorities, NGOs, businesses, media and active citizens – to take part. The campaign featured the best practices and experiences of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, as well as those in other parts of Ukraine by presenting expert opinions to the target audience. The aim was to form a conscious and informed positive attitude toward the unification of communities.
Public outreach events were organised in target communities from 10-23 October 201. The project team conducted 14 consecutive public events in a road show format (8 events in Donetsk oblast and 6 events in Luhansk oblast). The event programme in each city included interactive presentations, public discussions, and quizzes.
Action Ukraine developed the communication concept (including its motto), the overall branding of the campaign, promotional materials (including a video and animated clips) on decentralisation, an online quiz and printed materials. Action Ukraine also provided media relations and social media support.
