Action Diplomacy has teamed with the Thomson Foundation, Particip, Ipsos, the European Journalism Centre, France Medias Monde and Free Press Unlimited, to win an €8 million contract for the “Media Hub: Networking, on-the-job training and support to media professionals across the EU Neighbourhood area”. Spanning over a vast area of 17 countries in the Eastern and Southern Neighbourhood, the four-year project aims to strengthen the capacity of media outlets for providing free, independent, factual and timely news to the public, and to better communicate the relations of their countries with the EU. The key activities of the project include face-to-face and online trainings for more than 1,000 journalists, events for editors, production support, and the launch of a networking website for media professionals. Action Diplomacy will provide logistics and assistance from its network of local offices to organise the media trainings. The project comes at a critical time for the relations between the EU and its Eastern and Southern neighbours, as the structure and implementation of the European Neighbourhood Policy is coming under review.
