Action Diplomacy representatives Larry Fergeson and Katia Maronati joined international development professionals, including 100 world leaders and over 4,500 organisations at this year’s European Development Days in Brussels in June. Organised by the European Commission, the European Development Days (EDD) bring the development community together each year to share ideas and experiences in ways that inspire new partnerships and innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. World class speakers, including the President of the World Bank, EU Commissioners, NGO practitioners and young activists, shared their lessons learned, visions for sustainable development and ideas for the way forward. For its tenth anniversary, EDD 2016 focused on the ‘2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’, making it one of the very first major conferences dedicated to the issue. In line with this theme, Maia Chitaia, the Country Director of Action Georgia, was invited to represent the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD http://enpard.ge) project, while sharing inspiring stories and achievements from the three years that Action has been implementing the EU’s contribution to agricultural and rural development in Georgia.
